Privacy Policy

This policy describes how Canopy SEO ("Canopy," "we," "us"), a product of Studio Mesa LLC, collects, uses, and protects your information.

Information we collect

Account information. When you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile photo from Google. We use this to create and identify your account.

Google Search Console data. With your permission, we access your Google Search Console data including keyword rankings, click data, impressions, and indexed pages. This data is used to generate your content strategy and article recommendations. We request read-only access and never modify your Search Console settings.

Project information. You provide information about your website including your site URL, business description, target audience, and writing preferences. This is stored in our database and used to personalize your content strategy and articles.

Generated content. Articles, content plans, and strategy reports generated by the service are stored in your account.

Payment information. Payments are processed by Stripe. We don't store your credit card number or payment details. Stripe's privacy policy governs how they handle your payment information.

Usage data. We collect basic usage data including pages visited, features used, and article generation counts. This helps us improve the product.

How we use your information

We use your information to:

• Provide the Canopy service (generating strategies, writing articles, publishing)

• Process payments and manage your subscription

• Send transactional emails (welcome, billing receipts, important updates)

• Improve the product based on usage patterns

• Respond to support requests

What we don't do

We don't sell your personal information to anyone. We don't use your content or Search Console data for advertising. We don't share your data with third parties for their marketing purposes. We don't train AI models on your generated articles or business data.

Third-party services we use

• Google OAuth and Search Console API — for authentication and SEO data

• Stripe — for payment processing

• Anthropic (Claude API) — for AI content generation (your site context is sent to generate articles, subject to Anthropic's usage policies)

• Vercel — for hosting the application

• Neon — for database hosting

Each of these services has their own privacy policies that govern how they handle data.

Data about your site sent to AI

When Canopy generates articles, it sends relevant context to Anthropic's Claude API including your business description, target audience, writing preferences, target keyword, and SERP analysis data. This is necessary to generate relevant, personalized articles. Anthropic's API does not use this data to train their models.

Data retention

Your account data, generated articles, and content plans are stored as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete your data within 30 days. Backups may retain data for up to 90 days after deletion.

Google Search Console data

You can disconnect your Google Search Console at any time from Settings. When you disconnect, we stop accessing new data. Previously imported keyword data remains in your account unless you delete your project or account.

You can also revoke Canopy's access from your Google account permissions at any time.

Security

We use encryption in transit (HTTPS), store data in secured databases, and follow reasonable security practices. However, no system is 100% secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security.

Your rights

You can request a copy of your data or ask us to delete your account and associated data by emailing hello@canopyseo.com. We'll respond within 30 days.

If you're in the EU, you have additional rights under GDPR including the right to access, correct, delete, or port your data. Contact us to exercise these rights.

Cookies

Canopy uses essential cookies for authentication and session management. We don't use advertising or tracking cookies.

Children

Canopy is not intended for use by anyone under 18. We don't knowingly collect information from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email or through the app.
